Solar Plexus Chakra

TO ACT

In Sanskrit, the solar plexus chakra is called Manipura, which means lustrous gem.

The seed of this chakra is located at the celiac plexus which is a system of radiating nerves and ganglia in the pit of the stomach.

The main focus of this centre is power and will, self definition and the right to act.  A heathy solar plexus chakra provides vitality, strength of will, spontaneity, purpose and positive self esteem.

The element is FIRE.

To be in harmony here we need to trust in ourselves and our power to choose our destiny as well as take responsibility for the consequences of our actions.

The characteristics of excess in this chakra include dominating, controlling, constant activity, scattered and aggressive.

Deficiencies include poor self esteem, passive, fearful, sluggish, and weak willed.

The demon of the solar plexus chakra is SHAME.

Shame can act as a paralysis to spontaneous action and inhibit us from taking actions that support our personal power.  It can also damage our self perception and self esteem.

Spiritual challenges include lack of drive or personal focus, having a build up of venomous feelings, outbursts of anger and frustration, and not trusting your gut instincts.
