Base Chakra

  TO BE HERE In Sanskrit, the base chakra is called Muladhara , which means root .   The seed of this chakra is located at the base of the spine and the coccygeal plexus, which is a nerve plexus near the coccyx bone.  Energetically, it includes the legs and the feet. The main focus of this centre is survival, self preservation and the basic right to be here and take up space.  A heathy base chakra provides grounding, stability, physical health, prosperity and trust in life. The element is EARTH . To be in harmony here we need to be in our bodies and take care of them with good food, exercise and proper rest. The characteristics of excess in this chakra include heaviness, sluggishness, monotony, obesity, hoarding, materialism and greed. According to the ancients, and an integral aspect of Chinese medicine, a person has both a physical body and a qi body.  The qi body, or energy body, is an electro-magnetic field that serves to vitalize the physical body and support its healthy functioning and well-being.  The energy body both interpenetrates and extends beyond the physical body forming the multi-dimensional and interconnected nature of life.
